How It Feels to Have Never Been in a Serious Relationship

I’m twenty and I’ve never been in a relationship that’s lasted longer than a month or two. But so what, right? I’m only twenty. I still have my entire life ahead of me! I have goals and aspirations and things to learn about myself before I can properly settle down with someone. But it doesn’t always feel that way. Sometimes it just sucks, especially when it seems like everyone around me is in a relationship. There’s been times when I’ve wallowed in self-pity because I somehow convinced myself I’d be #foreveralone (I even have the tweets to prove it). And there’s been times when I thought it was the end of the world, like when I almost didn’t have a prom date and for some godforsaken reason I had to have a date or I wouldn’t go. Instead of thinking that I have my whole life ahead of me, I start wondering why I’ve never been in a serious relationship. I start to analyze every relationship

19 Things I Wish I Could Tell My Younger Self

There are so many things I wish I could just scream right into the face of my younger self. So many things I wish I knew back then, so many things that could have prevented much of the heartbreak I’ve felt in my life. People always say “Sometimes we need to learn things the hard way,” but why? If you could spare yourself from some of the sadness the world hands us all, wouldn’t you? So here’s to my younger, much more naive self: Exert your efforts into the things that won’t leave you the next day. Find what matters and spend your life surrounding yourself with those things. Your family will become a key important feature to your life, even if you can’t see it now, so make sure to spend time with them as often as possible. That’s what it is like to be sick at college. I have asked some college experts, my friends, what they can suggest to incoming freshman, or even seasoned students on what to do to prevent the black plague from coming and destroying all that your immune system. Here’s some actual advice from college students: “Getting sick the first time at college is legit the worst thing ever because you have to take care of yourself, and Campbell’s

Please Stop Assuming You Can Read My Body Language

I’ve had my fair share of times when people think that they know exactly what I’m thinking or feeling based on my body language. My arms are crossed? Well that must mean one of two things: I’m cold or I’m angry. Wrong. I’m slouching in my chair in class? That means I don’t really care about what’s being taught or I’m not paying full attention. Wrong. I’m not smiling or laughing at something my friend just said? Obviously I don’t like what she said. Wrong. The truth? Sometimes I just feel like my arms are awkwardly hanging by my sides so I’ll cross them because it’s comfortable. I have a tendency to slouch in class because the desks are uncomfortable and if I’m going to have to sit in one for an hour and a half I’m going to make myself as comfortable as possible. I don’t find it necessary to smile or laugh at

20 Alternate Ways to Show Someone You Appreciate Them

It’s easy to get caught up in life and forget to tell the loved ones in our life just how much we appreciate them. We make up excuses and tell ourselves that we’ll do it later, but you never know if “later” is going to be too late. But sometimes it’s also just hard for us to convey how much someone means to us. It’s not always easy for people to say “I love you” or “I appreciate you”, so here are 20 other ways to do just that. 20. Spend time with them. This is probably the most obvious out of them all, but as college students with busy schedules it can be hard to coordinate time to spend together. Even if it’s just grabbing a quick coffee between classes or tagging along to buy groceries, just make sure you spend time with them. 19. Tag/send an article that reminds you of
