10 Things I Wish I Had Realized While In High School

If I could write a letter to my past high school self, there are a few things I would let them know. 10. There’s No Shame In Going To Bed Early If your friends are all busy, and you’re done studying, do yourself a favor and try to get some shut eye.  When you go to college, nights where you actually finish your homework are few and far between, and you will be seeing the early AM’s often.

12 Lessons I Learned From Junior Year

As a rising senior, I’ve never been more excited that a school year has ended. Looking back on the last two semesters seems to be almost like a roller coaster, it had its ups and downs. This year I was able to learn more about myself and who I want to become in the near future. I was able to take away a lot this year. Whether it was from a professor, myself, friends, teammates, coaches, or my parents I learned more about life and the direction I want to take when I graduate in a year or so. 12. It does your bank account dirty- You end up spending all the money in your junior year, it’s basically the most expensive year next to freshman year. You’re finally able to buy alcohol, you have to pitch money for DD’s, cabs and it all starts to add up. 11. 21 is fun- Most

19 Things I Wish I Could Tell My Younger Self

There are so many things I wish I could just scream right into the face of my younger self. So many things I wish I knew back then, so many things that could have prevented much of the heartbreak I’ve felt in my life. School is so much more important than you think it is. Your education

As a child born the product of an addict, I can most definitely tell you that you do learn lessons along the way. Even if you aren’t the person with the addiction yourself, you go through each hard moment as if you were. Most of the time, even worse. Every case of addiction is different– I’m not trying to generalize everyone’s feelings into my own– but there is one characteristic that holds true for every addict: they’ve hurt someone. It doesn’t matter what kind of addiction you have, I guarantee you someone has been hurt by the course of your actions. Alcohol, pills, heroin, cocaine, opiates, nicotine, you name it. You’ve most definitely hurt someone else, but you’ve definitely hurt yourself. I’ve learned a lot growing up in a house where substances were more important than the daughter of the substance abuser. So if you’re reading this, chances are, you’re a lot

Life Lessons I’ve Learned From Children

Children are the most innocent and pure human beings on Earth. They’re full of excitement, creative insight, knowledge and simplicity that an adult just can no longer exhibit as hard as we try. Working with children for years has taught me more lessons than my countless years of schooling has and ever could. They’re some of the wisest little humans with some of the best hearts to match. Each of them are different and they all have their own unique set of characteristics, but some things stay the same around the board; I can see a little bit of myself in each of them. Here are some of the lessons they’ve taught me: If they want a hug, be the second one to let go. You never know how badly some of the kids you come across through work really need a long, genuine hug from someone who cares. You may
