An Open Letter To Girls Who Think They Need Makeup to Be Beautiful

Dear Ladies, Makeup is a very fun and expensive tool to mark your already beautiful canvas. To be honest, a smile is the best kind of makeup a girl can wear. Who has the time to contour every morning before work or class and still have time left over to brush your hair? Not me. Makeup is a cool tool, but it’s not a necessary tool to our survival as women. Makeup has been around for such a long time, but there have been so many iconic figures who were or are known for their natural beauty when not wearing makeup. Examples include: Cleopatra, Angelina Jolie, Farah Faucet, and Zooey Deschanel. The fact that ladies look so hard for makeup that makes them look natural is absurd. Instead of trying to fake everyone out, try this amazing thing called natural beauty and leave your face untouched by those harsh, animal-tested

Struggles of Having A Gorgeous Sibling

It’s a difficult world out there, especially for girls. We’re constantly, and unfairly, compared to one another. This puts the idea in our brain that we’re at competition, especially over looks. This gets even harder when your sibling is gorgeous, and you don’t feel so hot. Although you may not be identical, you can still appreciate that you’re both beautiful in your own way. And when you wake up in the morning you feel like you look like you got beat up in your sleep. 9)Whenever you go to an event together, her outfit always looks better than yours. From head to toe. 8) She probably never went through an ugly duckling phase in elementary/middle school. Yours lasted 10 years. Heck mine is still going on now. 7) She

An Open Letter to 13-Year-Old Girls Today

How do you do it? How do you all manage to look like 18-year-olds who just stepped out of the Victoria’s Secret PINK catalog? When I was your age, I was dressing myself from head to toe in Limited Too clothes full of sequins, sparkles and creepy looking characters. I would be ridiculed for thinking I was “too cool” if I occasionally wore anything Hollister or Abercrombie to school, wore a hint of makeup, or owned a cell phone. I remember all of my friends not speaking to me for a week when I got my first phone and started wearing eyeliner because they all thought I believed myself to be better than them. These days, all of you girls are wearing Victoria’s Secret, American Eagle, and even designer brands like Michael Kors and Coach. Your hair is perfectly straightened or curled, and you’re wearing immense amounts of makeup contoured to

An Open Letter to Why Girls Wear Makeup

Dear girls, guys, and anyone confused on this trend, There seems to be a constant back and forth as to whether girls wear makeup to impress others-specifically guys, verses if they wear it for themselves. Here’s how I see it- it’s both. For themselves: I don’t usually wear makeup to school, simply because I don’t want to get up earlier in the morning. Sometimes though, if I put on a nice outfit I’ll take the time to put on some eyeliner and mascara and feel that much better that morning. This can hold true for girls that wear makeup everyday to school too; I’m just not as committed. It just makes the look you’re going for that day complete, thus making you feel complete. It gives you a little boost of confidence you need here and there that Sephora, Mac, or Covergirl is sure to give you. Makeup is a
