I have naturally curly hair which I have grown to love. Sure, in middle school, I begged and pleaded that my hair would be naturally straight (and heat damaged it like so with my flat iron); however, as I have gotten older, I have appreciated wild, sexy curls. So, curly girls unite. Here are 20 things that all girls with curly hair have experienced: 20. When people ask you if you curled your hair… No, it’s all natural. I was born with it. 19. When people tell you that you should brush your hair I can’t even tell you how accurate this is 18. You run out of conditioner way faster than shampoo Too bad conditioner bottles weren’t double the size of my shampoo… life would be so much easier. 17. When your hair tie gets stuck in your hair… OUCH! 16. You hate when people touch your hair Keep your
Temple University Student Posts Ad To Be Your New BFF, And It Will Make Your Day!
Remember the episode of The Suite Life Of Zach And Cody when the wealthy London Tipton has to enter the unwelcoming doors of public school with very little friends along her side? If you remember correctly, she chooses to buy her friends, because really, what else would you expect London Tipton to do? Ashlyn Parks, a freshman at Temple University, decided to sell something on the website fiverr.com, and it happened to be herself. She posted an ad titled, “I will be the best friend you ever wanted,” and it has received a ton of attention (Check it out here!). She writes this as a description: I’m proving to my mother that you can purchase friendship. Ask yourself, are you lonely? I sure am! Read This Is You Are Having A Bad Day
I am not saying bad days don’t suck because they do. I am not saying that you can just shove your rough patches in the trash (even though I wish it was that simple) because it is easier said than done. I am not saying that you have to turn your frown upside down immediately because in reality, it can be difficult to do. Flashback to my glory days in high school, I can say that I learned one thing in my AP Psychology course that kind of stuck with me (Shoutout to Ms. Bernstein!): according to studies, smiling activates happiness. Interesting, huh? I can get into scientific facts about how this works, but seriously, even if you are not feeling it, you should put a smile on your face. So, if you are going through misery right now, if you are battling depression, anxiety, a break-up, a loss, or if you are going through a
Heartbreaking Video Of What Happened After The Miss. Universe Pageant
Yesterday was certainly a day in history for the Miss. Universe pageant (read here). Long story short, Steve Harvey announced Miss Colombia as the ultimate winner of the pageant when it was Miss Philippines all along. To make matters worse, he had to walk on stage and announce his horrible mistake to viewers all over the world. However, not only are people responding to Steve Harvey’s treacherous mistake, but they are reacting to how the girls behaved after the event. To be honest, if I was up for the title (LOL), I am not sure if I would have rather been Colombia or Philippines. Take a look at this heartbreaking video below of what happened after the Miss. Universe pageant. My heart goes out to both girls, and even Steve Harvey. While this was a TERRIBLE mistake, think about how he feels.
The Overwhelming Yes: Why I Need To Get Some Balls And Say No
From a young age, I was taught to say no to drugs. I was taught to say no to peer pressure. I was taught to say no if I was uncomfortable in any situation. I am so grateful that I have learned the power of the word no under these circumstances. However, as I am getting older, I have learned that no not only has the function of protecting oneself; but, no can prevent somebody from becoming overburdened with unnecessary stressors that build up over time. I have a serious issue in my life, and that issue is the fact that I am at everybody’s beckon call the second that they need me. I feel that I need to show everybody that I am capable of doing any little task or favor, whether it is tedious, petty, or minute. So, I end up saying yes to everything. Why is that an issue you ask?
