Freshman year is always the year of firsts for many young adults. Whether it be your first time away from your parents, your first time drinking alcohol, or even that first 20 page paper, freshman year leaves so many memories for years to come. Here are some scenarios that always bring me back to freshman year as represented by April Ludagte from Parks & Recreation. When your RA wanted to get to know you, but you would rather not.. and she dragged you out of your dorm to do things anyway.. and then you played games at orientation to try to get to know other students.

The Stages of Walking to Class Defined by Wizard of Oz GIFs
Walking to class can be the most annoying time out of your day, but it can also be one of the most interesting. You see a lot of interesting characters on the walk to the academic buildings and you overhear the most bizarre conversations. Here’s how the Wizard of Oz characters would describe it: Getting lost on the way to class the first day so you find weird alternative paths Then someone hits into you and knocks all of your books out of your hands Then watching them trip and fall on the pavement
15 Things Journalism Majors Understand
15. Social media is practically your best friend. You live tweet everything and retweet articles like it’s second nature. When you first signed up for Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, Instagram, etc. you probably never imagined putting those on your resume. 14. People expect you to keep them informed about all forms of news (entertainment, politics, business, etc.). You always seem to know what’s going on and are like a walking newsstand. 13. New York City is like a wonderland to you. It’s the media capital of the world so you’ve probably envisioned yourself working for NBC or some other major news company at some point in your life. 12. You have no problem moving for your job. You’ll take a job wherever you can get it even if that means moving to a small town in North Dakota. 11. The phrase “don’t talk to strangers” doesn’t apply to you. You’ve gotten so used to man on the street interviews and approaching random people
My Actual Thoughts on College Textbooks
College is back in full swing so that means everyone has their textbooks and is now facing the repercussions of having to spend hundreds of dollars on them. When you already have to spend thousands of dollars on tuition, room, and board no one wants to spend a couple hundred more on heavy textbooks that you’ll have to lug around to class every day. Then, to make it worse, your professors tell you that you have to buy every book because you’ll need them, but half of the time you barely even touch them. All that textbooks really end up doing is giving you back problems, headaches, and stress. Granted there are those few classes where you end up relying on your textbook to pass every test, but they’re still just a pain to buy.
